Vault City Be Mine Review – The Beer for Lovers

Vault City Brewing are a microbrewery based in Edinburgh knowing for creating their modern sour beers which feature unique and unexpected flavours. Since 2018 the team at Vault City have been dedicated to exploring unique flavours, creating beers with a fruity twist. Vault City have described their goal saying they have ‘set out to modernise a traditional style of brewing with our take on fruited sours. Our modern sour beers have converted even the most stubborn non-beer and traditional beer drinkers, with a mix of accessible and adventurous flavours.’ And that they have done creating a variety of unique beers unlike those created by any other brewer. Irn Bru, raspberry ripple, Bucks Fizz and rhubarb and custard are just a few of their exciting flavours. In honour of valentine's day, the brewers have just released a series of beers inspired by Swizzel’s Love Heart sweets featuring four different beers named after the iconic slogans that are featured on the traditional candies. The four beers included are called, Be Mine, Marry Me, Only You and True Love, making them the perfect beers for Valentine’s.

The beers packaging is an eye-catching pastel design inspired by the sweet's wrapper featuring a swirly heart pattern which perfectly suits the holiday the beer is intended for. The beer itself is a pink colour, again, making it perfect for valentine's day. Be Mine perfectly captures the combination of sweet and sour that is found in Love hearts, the beer lacks bitterness and tastes closer to a cider due to its sweetness. The beer is 4.5% ABV and is easy to drink as its flavour is so sweet it almost resembles juice, and the alcohol taste is not extraordinarily strong. This makes it a great beer for people who are not too big on the taste of beer or alcohol, however, it is not one for those who are not too fond of sour flavours as the beer is pretty tart.

The adorable packaging and beers sweetness makes it perfectly suited for the holiday it is intended to. In addition to that the loving names make them a unique gift for beer lovers on valentines and the overall concept was a great idea from Vault City. One that was also well executed and suits the brewery's branding of unique flavour, perfectly representing the brand and holiday.
